i like to do drawrings • Color this week’s cover of the Portland Mercury using the medium of your choice (crayons, acrylics, watercolors, chalk, the sacrificial blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, etc.). This contest is open to ALL AGES! • A LOCAL CELEBRITY who may or may not know the first thing about art will judge your entry on “artistic quality.” • The winning entry will be displayed on the cover of our April 13 issue of the Mercury, plus the artist will receive a check for $200—which they can use to pay rent, purchase a school lunch, or buy heroin. THIS IS NOT A JOKE! Send in your Easter Coloring Contest entry no later than THURSDAY, APRIL 6, and show the world that someone is willing to pay for your talent!i'm totally doing this. | | Tuesday, March 14th, 2006 | | 10:05 pm |

if one were to watch the new mudhoney video for the really awful song, it is us, one might notice some familiar faces during the donut dream sequence (squint really hard). i'm pretty sure this is the worst song i've ever heard, thank god they didn't force us to listen to it while they filmed, eh? guilty pleasures tagged by kellmeister04The first player of the game starts with the topic of "5 Guilty Pleasures" and people who get tagged need to write an LJ entry about 5 Guilty Pleasures as well as state this rule clearly. In the end you need to choose 5 people to be tagged and list their names. 1) star magazine - my newest guilty pleasure. i blame dinners at veggie thai where these magazines overfloweth. 2) garden turkey sandwiches - for the most part, i eat like a vegetarian. but for some reason i still eat turkey sandwiches from the 400 cafe. i feel guilty every time (even if turkeys are teh ugliest animal evuh). they're delicious :`(. 3) kindergarten cop - what can i say, this is the greatest movie ever. who is your daddy and what does he do?4) the bachelor: paris - i can't wait for tonight's ep. paris never looked so gay. 5) bean burritos from taco bell - i crave these at odd times. one time i wanted one at 10am. i pulled into the taco bell drive thru, hit the curb, and popped my tire. it was teh awesome. i'd do anything for these, which is scary, considering that they AREN'T REAL FOOD. luckily i work near loco locos burritos so now i tend to eat those instead (and i don't feel as guilty). i'm tagging adrinantbf, fromblacktoblue, internet_cash, j451n, and obsoletist. | | Thursday, January 19th, 2006 | | 5:35 am |
i played some johnny on the juke box for you tonight. later on in the night, at the hut (when a bunch of us were gathered there) a random stranger played a couple more cash songs. i'm too drunk to type :(. | | Wednesday, January 18th, 2006 | | 8:54 am |

"nuke the unborn gay whales for christ" that bumper sticker made me laugh. in unrelated news, i'm receiving email updates via my mom on my aunt terrie. she's sitting inside her walk-in closet right now with a flash light, cell phone, bottled water, and batteries while hurricane wilma is outside her house D:. i don't think it's too bad, but still. i just feel bad that she's all alone for this one :\. honey, if you're still around
i am not feeling like myself today. i suppose waking up at 2am and not falling back to sleep has something to do with that. i tried all of my usual tricks of attempting to fall into a slumber (ie reading, musician-alphabet-in-my-head, etc) but none of them worked and so i laid there for 4.5 hours until the radio alarm went off. today my brain is not really interpreting the little impulses that are being sent by the neurons or whatever it is that transmits the thoughts around inside my head. it's kind of crazy that our thoughts are just electrical impulses or waves traveling along . . . are we really controlled by chemical reactions? i hope it's more than that. nothing is making sense, it's quite frustrating. i foresee a long day of excel charts and graphs in front of me. maybe i should buy some fuel for my brain. "yes, have some." i really want to be fully alert for this evening. | | Sunday, September 18th, 2005 | | 7:20 pm |
1987
the following conversation was overheard this afternoon at music millennium on e. burnside. 14 yr old boy: have you heard of dinosaur jr? 12 yr old boy: dinosaur jr? no. 15/16 yr old boy: i've heard some . . . they're not that great. 14 year old boy: wow, this album came out in 1987. usually really old music is good. usually. you should probably get it. 12 yr old boy: george harrison! is this the guy from the beatles? 14 yob: yeah 12 yr old boy: he has his own album!??? 14 yob: yeah. hey, have you heard of the jam? 12 yr old boy: the jam? 14 yob: man, i'm into more experimental stuff. you know. man. :`( i want to adopt them. | | Tuesday, September 6th, 2005 | | 4:28 pm |
1,000 evacuees are coming to pdx this week. oregon is one of 12(?) states volunteering to help shelter some people. i went down to se 14th & stark last night (the old monroe high school) where a lot of the people will be staying. there were hundreds of cots set up in the gym with a hand painted "welcome to portland" sign on the wall. the cop outside was all "D:!!" basically people were saying "donate to the salvation army or red cross", which yes, this is good. but i think i'm going to head back tomorrow night (i think people are arriving then, i'm not sure?) to see if there's anything else that can be done. if anyone wants to come with me, just give me a call. i can't imagine having your entire life washed away and being transported to an entirely different state to try and "start over". what the fuck. |
